Slatted Pool Covers

A slatted pool cover is a premium pool cover for an indoor pool. Slatted covers look great, as well as being very efficient in retaining heat, preventing evaporation and keeping your pool beautifully clean.

Slatted pool covers are probably the best looking pool covers you can get, which is why you will often see them in hotels and health clubs, especially if the pool is a particular feature of the building. They are very good for heat retention when the slats are all sealed shut, which saves on heating and chemical costs and the seal also helps keep the pool water clean.

Slatted covers are used almost exclusively for indoor pools as they are not the easiest covers to clean and outdoors they tend to get limescale build up in the grooves of the slats which can be difficult to get at. They can be fitted to any pool, existing or new, with a range of mounting options, including floor mounted, wall mounted, roller mounted, bench mounted or pit mounted.

The cover can be taken on or off the pool with the touch of a button or by remote control and there are a wide range of slats to choose from, including transparent slats which enable you to see the pool water and the pool lights at night. Despite any appearance to the contrary, slatted covers are not safety covers.

A slatted pool cover works by floating across the water’s surface and covering the pool with sealed and insulated slats that separate the water from the air above. Each slat locks into its neighbouring slat to seal the pool’s surface and prevent evaporation. The slats themselves have end caps that make the slats watertight and buoyant. The system of fixing these end caps uses injected silicon to ensure the slats remain hermetically sealed throughout their life. The result is a great looking cover and significant reductions in heating and chemical costs.

The typical cost for a slatted pool cover for a 30’ indoor pool would be £7,000 – £15,000.
