UV Systems

At Azure Pools and Hot Tubs, we fit UV systems to all the pools we build.  A UV unit is a system that we add to pool plant which improves the quality of the water.  It is a non chemical and non invasive form of water treatment.  It doesn’t replace chlorine as some uninformed advertisers claim, but it reduces chlorine use and makes the water cleaner and sparkling.

As a proven technology that’s extensively used for purifying drinking water that comes into our homes; UV units work by passing water through a sealed chamber where it is exposed to high frequency UV light.  This process kills many bacteria and makes surviving bacteria sterile so that they can’t reproduce. The process also breaks down fats that we leave behind in the water from our bodies, such as creams, and our own body oils.

When regular chlorine combines with impurities such as sweat, bacteria, and other body products that we inadvertently leave behind in the water, chloramines are produced, and UV effectively reduces these too.

Modern UV units can also include nano technology where the water passes over positively charged nano crystals.  These are used with the purpose of softening the water and removal of contaminants such as physical, biological, and chemical contaminents.  There are a variety of techniques in nanotechnology which uses nanoparticles for providing pool safe water and drinking water with a high level of effectiveness.

It is this purifying process that reduces the amount of harsh chlorine required in a pool, though SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association) state that a small residual of chlorine should exist in all pools.  Indeed we have customers that have testified to this fact and are delighted with the reduction of chlorine that they use.

We can install such a unit as a retrofit system to most pools.  Please enquire if you would like to find out more about how this amazing new proven technology could improve your pool water.
