Hot tub bromine – how much should I use?

To some people, this can be a daunting thought. What if I put too much Bromine in? Will Bromine affect my skin or eyes? Do I need less Bromine if my children are using the Hot Tub? How do I know my hot tub is safe to use?

You need Fi-Clor Spa Bromine Tablets placed into a Floating Dispenser to stop any potential of bacteria forming in your spa. Keep to the simple routine below and you will have an easy to maintain and simple to use Hot Tub.

So to reassure you, this is actually a very simple process.

All hot tubs have a recommended Bromine rate of 4-6mg/l regardless of who is using it.

Before you panic, don’t! Simply dip one of your Test Strips into the water, take it out and compare to the colour chart on the back of the Test Strips bottle.

If the Bromine level is too low it will be a lighter colour and if too high a darker colour. It even says “OK” on the bottle for the correct colour you are looking for, which just so happens to be your 4-6mg/l Bromine level. This couldn’t be easier!

Note: If you really want to make all this as simple as possible and know your levels are correct, test with a test strip every 2 days, this way you will ensure the Hot Tub is never high or low in Bromine levels and always ready to be used.

It takes the worrying and guesswork out.

What if my bromine level is too low?

If your Bromine level shows too low firstly check there are Fi-Clor Spa Bromine Tablets in the dispenser. Assuming there is you would then increase the Bromine level by opening the flow on the dispenser.

What if my bromine level is too high?

High Bromine levels can cause irritation. If your Bromine level is too high (remember your test strip will show you this in a simple colour check on the bottle) you can simply close the flow on the floating dispenser until the Bromine level comes down.

The biggest tip we can give you for trouble-free Bromine levels is really as simple as testing the water with a test strip every two days. So don’t run out of Fi-Clor Spa Bromine Tablets or Test Strips. This will ensure you always have the correct chlorine levels in your spa. Easy!
